The Crystal Mountain Practitioner Support Fund

The purpose of Crystal Mountain Society is to support the awakening and liberation of individuals based on principles set forth by the manifold teachings of Buddha Dharma. The Society’s main method to fulfill this purpose is through study and meditation retreats. It considers the manifestations of liberation; wisdom and compassion—to whatever extent arisen in individuals—be nurtured and of greatest benefit to all life. In keeping with the teaching of our inspirational founder, the Venerable Namgyal Rinpoche, we are committed to ensuring that all courses and teachings are accessible and open to all interested students. To this end the CM Board of Directors works to maintain affordable rates for all members and non-members.

In keeping with this philosophy, CM is introducing a bursary program that will provide students who have demonstrated limited resources with the opportunity to attend courses at a reduced cost. Bursaries will be applied for and individually awarded on a case-by-case basis by the Practitioner Fund Review Committee as funds are available. We invite you to contribute to the fund as to help as many beings as we are able.

The Practitioner Support Fund, dependent upon the generous donations of the membership, will be available to students in financial need. Applications to the Practitioner Support Fund will be accepted by the Review Committee throughout the year and reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The Review Committee will make every effort to review applications on a regular basis to insure a timely response for each application received.

Eligibility for the Fund will be determined by the student’s financial and personal need. Applicants will be asked to submit a written letter to the Review Committee that outlines briefly their circumstance and demonstrates their interest in the particular course for which they are applying. (Alternate means of application can be arranged upon request.) The Fund is intended to assist those students who are unable to participate in courses and retreat work as a result of financial hardship. Although priority will be given to Crystal Mountain members, all applications will be considered and reviewed by the Review Committee. Recommendations will be requested from the Teacher.

The Practitioner Fund can cover course fees and lodging costs. It will not cover food, or Dana for the teacher. Applicants will be encouraged to pay-what-they-can to increase the fund’s ability to support as many applicants as possible. Applicants will be encouraged to repay the Fund where possible.
